Angenieux, (GL Optics Rehoused) 20-120mm 6X-MF T2.9 Zoom Lens (PL)

The Angenieux 20-120mm 6X-MF T2.9 Zoom Lens (PL) re-housed by GL Optics. This lens started out as a vintage Angenieux 20-120mm T2.9, which is a perfect lens to be re-housed, due to it’s rotating and telescoping focus group, which makes matte box and follow focus set-ups difficult. The 20-120mm 6X lens (with black scales) covers the Academy 35mm Format. (The red and silver scaled versions of the re-housed 6X Angenieux Zoom cover Super 35mm and Full-Frame respectively.)

The lens is sharp on center for its age even wide open, with softer corners. It's warm in tone, low contrast with blue, magenta, flares. Bokeh is smooth, but with some texture to it. Like all cinema zooms, it’s parfocal, and there is no exposure ramping throughout the zoom range. This lens is one of very few cinema zooms that pairs really well with prime lenses from the 1950s and 1960s, but now with all the benefits of modern mechanical design including internal focus, which the original lens did not have.
